GuruHits is a music game where you listen to short song clips, guess the name of the song or artist and win great prizes.
The idea for GuruHits was born in 1997 and since 2001 the music quiz is online. You are now looking at the latest new design of the site. More music content was added and the quiz was optimized to work faster.
Let me tell you a little bit about the history of GuruHits...
Jochen "Joe" Savelberg
You might wonder where the name "GuruHits" comes from. It got coined in the mid 90's by a radio moderator, who works at the BRF (the local public radio station). She interviewed me soon after I launched our Internet business, Euregio.Net, with my parents. In her introduction she announced me as the East-Belgian Internet Guru.
My friends listened to the broadcast, laughed a lot and started to pay me out about it. They also started to call me "Guru". This explains the first part of this site's name.
The second part of the name, "Hits" stems from my love for music and my personal play lists of the latest chart breakers.
I bought my first CD-player at the age of 12 -- back in 1987. I've been collecting CD's ever since. My music collection now holds close to 2,000 silver platters and 15,000 songs. Once a month I go to the record shop and grab most anything from the Top 100 charts. When I'm short on time or when I'm looking for some rare music, I do my shopping online. I love the diversity of music and how different artists express their thoughts.
Please read the following pages to learn why the second part of the site name is "Hits" and how the game was programmed.
