The Open-Source Engine (MIT)

The reusable parts of the recovery are released as open source so others can revive similar HyperCard-and-NetCloak sites. The NetCloak renderer, the tag specification, and its documentation are made available under the MIT license.

You can find these components, with their license, on the Developer page. The MIT license applies to that engine and its documentation — not to the GuruHits content described in the section above, which remains under copyright.

Third-Party Marks

Several names and trademarks appear on this site because they are part of the history being documented. They belong to their respective owners and are used here only for identification and description:

• SABAM — the Belgian rights society that licensed the song clips;

• RealNetworks and RealAudio;

Fonts & Credits

The Chicago-style pixel font used for the classic-Mac chrome on this site is ChiKareGo2 by Giles Booth, used under the Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) license. The font file is unmodified; our thanks to the author for releasing it freely.

Documentation and Fair Use

The historical screenshots and the quoted correspondence on this site are reproduced for documentation and educational purposes — to record accurately how GuruHits was built, licensed, and played. Where third-party material appears, it remains the property of its owner and is shown only to the extent needed to tell that history.
